The Best Herbal Teas for Winter in Australia By Katerina & Nathan
Australian winters are mild compared to the Czech Republic, my home country. Even when the weather app says 15°C, it is still very cold in the morning and in the evening. The hardest part about winter in Australia is the coldness inside the house — and that is where tea saves me!
I am one of those people who don't drink black tea with milk. I prefer herbal over black tea any time. The right blend warms you up in winter, supports your immune system, and gives you something genuinely good to reach for. For me, tea also brings calm — a moment to breathe and reset before the next part of the day.
My tea choices for winter:
Ginger & Lemon (Immunity): Ginger keeps you warm. It has a long record of health benefits across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe — warming, anti-inflammatory, and well known for supporting the immune system. Lemon adds brightness and rounds out the flavour to make this one of the most satisfying teas you can drink.
Our Ginger & Lemon blend is made from organic ingredients and is an excellent way to start the morning or warm up during the day. It is caffeine-free.
Chocolate & Mint (Detox): This seems to be our most popular blend — and it makes sense. It is made mainly from cacao shells, which gives it a rich, chocolatey depth without any sweetness. I don't even need honey in my cup. Combined with spearmint and rooibos, our Detox blend is perfect for a cold afternoon. It is also a favourite for coffee drinkers looking for an afternoon alternative — and honestly, it's a great companion for an evening movie too.
Green Tea & Lemongrass (Body): Our green tea is high quality, has no bitterness, and contains a very limited amount of caffeine. It can be used as a coffee replacement, even in the evening, without interrupting your sleep. Green tea gives you a nice, gentle energy lift without the caffeine spike. The lemongrass adds a soft citrusy warmth that is lovely on a cold morning. It is a very light tea and something I enjoy any time of the day.
Cranberry & Rooibos (Relax): Relax is a tea for any time of year, but it really earns its place in winter. I love it after work or in the evening before bed — it is caffeine-free, naturally sweet from the rooibos, and genuinely calming. Rooibos is native to South Africa's Cederberg mountains and has been enjoyed as an evening tea for generations, and for good reason. It is high in antioxidants and has a natural sweetness that needs nothing added.
Sitting down with a cup of Relax and a good book is my favourite way to finish the day.
Spearmint (Digestive): This is the tea I reach for after a heavy winter dinner or a weekend BBQ. Spearmint has been used to support digestion across the Mediterranean and Middle East for generations. It has a beautiful, gentle flavour and a really lovely smell — one of those teas that feels soothing before you even take a sip.
Our Spearmint blend is clean and simple — just spearmint, nothing added. It is very calming, which makes it the perfect way to help your body settle after a big meal.
My favourite tea:
I love all of our teas equally. Whenever I think "this is my favourite," I have a different one the next day and think "oh no, this one has to be my favourite!" I love all of them. If you have a favourite, please let me know — I would love to hear from you!
